THE ROLE OF POLYMER COATINGTYPICAL PROBLEMS OF POLYMER FLOORS

Polymer coating for industrial floors is primarily a coating. It covers some kind of base. I.e. there is some kind of load-bearing structure, which is usually made of concrete (see the picture above).

A conventional concrete floor consists of cement, fine and coarse aggregate (sand and crushed stone). During operation, its surface is destroyed under the influence of air, moisture and loads of various types:

  • Load from equipment,
  • Maintenance personnel,
  • Warehouse and service equipment,
  • Transport,
  • Mechanisms and so on.

Therefore, in order for the floor to be well preserved and serve for a long time, its surface must be protected from external influences.

The polymer coating protects the concrete floor structure. It prevents destruction and protects the base, while making it more durable, aesthetic and gives it a number of useful properties.

TYPICAL PROBLEMS OF POLYMER FLOORS

  • Bloating
  • Craters
  • Heterogeneity of the coating
  • The presence of foreign inclusions
  • Surface roughness
  • Detachment
  • Ruptures (cracks)
  • Poor adhesion (to walls, columns, structures), etc.

Customers often attribute the poor quality of polymer floors to the technology itself, to the floor itself. They think he's bad. There is an opinion that in America such a coating is better, because the temperature there is good and the humidity is better, but in Russia these indicators are different. This is absolutely not the case. The thing is that the client simply did not take seriously the choice of a contractor, a contractor. Or deliberately saved money by choosing a cheap, incompetent manufacturer of works.

Polymer floors are a high–tech product that requires careful compliance with technology at all levels, from entrance control, purchased materials to acceptance of the work front. The facility itself is also a production line for the production of floors and it is necessary to create ideal conditions for the coating to be of the highest quality and meet all the requirements imposed on it.

To produce a high-quality polymer floor, it is necessary to perform a number of important actions:

  1. To carry out a technical assessment of the base, while measuring a number of important indicators:
    • The strength of the base,
    • His temperature,
    • Humidity,
    • Surface evenness,
    • Check for waterproofing,
    • Get data on the requirements for the floor by the client and the operating conditions.
  2. Accept the work front,
  3. Prepare the concrete base,
  4. To carry out input control of materials,
  5. To monitor the work performed at all stages so that the technology is followed exactly.

Proper data collection allows you to make the only correct decision regarding the required design.

SELECT CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUR FUTURE POLYMER FLOORS

WHICH ARE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO YOU
1
SEAMLESS COVERAGE

Ensures the absence of dirt that can accumulate in the seams. There is no destruction of the seam edge and subsequent repair, which can cause a long shutdown of production (up to 1 month) and high costs for its implementation.

2
EVENNESS OF THE FLOOR SURFACE

The operation of electronic stackers or the installation of a production line requires perfect evenness. And significant irregularities can lead to a decrease in the speed of movement of equipment and premature wear of nodes. These are financial losses and high repair costs. The polymer coating allows for perfect evenness.

3
WEAR RESISTANCE AND IMPACT RESISTANCE

The task of any polymer coating is to protect the base from mechanical impact. The rate or intensity of wear of the polymer coating is lower than at the base, and the ability of the coating to prevent destruction under the action of shock loads is higher.

4
LONG SERVICE LIFE

Durability allows you to maintain the operability of the floor for a long time. Thereby significantly increase the time between ongoing repairs. This allows the production line to be operated for as long as possible, which leads to guaranteed profit and reduced repair costs. According to the British standard BS 8204-6 (2001), if the norms and rules of operation of the polymer floor are observed, the warranty period of its service is from 10 years or more (without repair).

5
MAINTAINABILITY

Polymer systems are easily recoverable, do not require large monetary, labor costs and long terms to perform repairs.

6
NO DUST FORMATION

The presence of such a coating on the base completely eliminates the formation of dust. This allows you to produce and store products with high quality indicators. Also, it makes it possible to operate a production line for a long time with the presence of a large number of rubbing parts or assemblies with high cleanliness requirements.

7
RESISTANCE TO AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENTS

Polymer coatings provide high resistance to the effects of not only ordinary liquids, but also any aggressive environment (solutions of acids, alkalis, mineral oils, etc.). This ensures that there is no destruction of the coating and the underlying base.

8
AESTHETICS

A good appearance of the coating contributes to higher labor productivity, a good mood of workers and increases safety at work.

9
ANTISTATIC

It is used in rooms with high requirements for explosion safety (chemical industry, production and storage of ammunition, food industry, electronic and electrical industry, medical institutions and production of medical products, production, maintenance and storage of aviation equipment. Coatings with antistatic properties are necessary in rooms with electronic hygiene (computer centers, server rooms, workshops with CNC machines, etc.)

10
HYGIENE

Withstands any requirements imposed on industrial floors by the relevant supervisory authorities – Gossanepidnadzor, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Federal Labor Inspectorate and so on.

11
FIRE SAFETY

They meet the highest fire requirements for coatings. They may be incombustible.

12
INVESTMENT-FRIENDLY

From the point of view of the financial ROI coefficient, an investment in a polymer coating in the long term provides a high level of business profitability.
